Low-Carb Ale numero dos

A variation (different hops) on my original low-carb creation. Not sure what category this would fall under, but my best guess is "Blonde Ale".

Initial tasting reveals it's almost exactly like the first batch. Floral aromas and sweet crisp flavors dominate. Christy says it tastes like Budweiser, and I don't have any complaints about it at all.

8.5 lbs 2-row pale malt
1 lb Light Crystal Malt (20)
1 lb Carapils
1 oz Saaz hop pellets (3%)
1 oz Fuggles hop pellets (5.7%)
1 packet SafAle US-05 dry yeast
1/2 tablet Whirfloc
4 Beano tablets, crushed


Mash grains in 3.5 gallons water at 150 for 30 minutes.
Sparge to collect 5 gallons.
Bring to a boil and add 1 oz Saaz hops.
After 45 minutes, add 1 oz Fuggles hops and Whirfloc.
Boil an additional 15 minutes.
Cool to 80 and pitch yeast. Ferment at 70 for 4 days.
Crush 4 Beano tablets and add to primary. Continue ferment for 17 more days.
Transfer to secondary and let settle for 2 weeks before kegging.
