An Irish Red Ale to share with friends and family at the 2012 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. These are nice and smooth, or as Christy likes to say, "nothing loud, nothing controversial."
The aroma is slightly yeasty with hints of malt and caramel. The flavor is a good balance between malt and hops, and has a sweet roasty finish. Alcohol warmth is apparent, but overall, this is an easy-drinking beer.

11.5 lbs Pale 2-row
6 oz Crystal 40
6 oz Crystal 120
6 oz Roasted Barley
1 oz UK Kent Goldings hop pellets 5.8%
1/2 tablet Whirfloc
1 vial WLP 004 Irish Ale yeast
Mash for 40 minutes at 150°
Sparge to obtain 5 gallons
Boil 15 minutes, then add hops
Boil 30 minutes more, then add Whirfloc
Boil 15 minutes more, then cool to 70°
Pitch yeast and allow to ferment 13 days @ 67°
Bottle, and condition for 6 days before chilling
