This is part of a Wort Hogs experiment. The idea coming from the May/June 2013 edition of Zymurgy. We use the same grain bill, the same yeast, and only one variety of hops for each batch.
The hops are used for flavor, bittering and aroma to see how they behave in each role. In theory, this will allow us to better understand how each style of hops contributes to any beer.

1.00 lbs Caramel 20
1 vial White Labs WLP001 (California Ale) yeast w/starter
1/2 tablet Whirfloc
0.40 oz (11.34g) EK Goldings Hop pellets (7.2%) @ 90 minutes (15.56 IBU)
0.75 oz (21.26g) EK Goldings Hop pellets (7.2%) @ 30 minutes (20.96 IBU)
1.00 oz (28.35g) EK Goldings Hop pellets (7.2%) @ 0 minutes (0.00 IBU)
1.00 oz (28.35g) EK Goldings Hop pellets (7.2%) dryhop 7 days (0.00 IBU)
Mash with 3.50 gallons @ 154° (175° strike) for one hour.
Sparge @ 175° to collect 5 gallons.
Boil for 90 minutes, adding hops at their allotted times.
Add Whirfloc in the last 15 minutes of the boil.
Cool to 75° and pitch yeast.
Ferment for 18 days at 72°
Transfer to secondary, and add dryhop addition.
Allow to settle for 1 week, then bottle.
